Product Photography Tips #1 - The lighting condition

This is the most important when it comes to photographing objects. The lighting conditions which will be good are vivid, low-contrast and without reflections.

To produce the best images of objects, ensure that you can manage the direction, value, and strength of the light. Therefore, avoid using built-in camera light sources.

Product Photography Tips #2 - Macro Flash Units

When you photograph images in macro mode, use special macro flash units to deliver even lighting. You can use a versatile dual flash set-up. An example of this is the Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX.

Otherwise, you can use the circular Canon Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX. This flash unit is what you can use if you are opting for a softer illumination. You can angle and adjust the two units to provide even lighting. You can do a close-up shot and avoid reflection.

Product Photography Tips #3 - External Flash With Bounce Capability

Another option is to use an external flash with bounce ability. Canon has a flash unit known as Canon Speedlite 270EX and 430 EX II. There is also the Canon Speedlite 580 EX II. These three Canon Speedlites can be on or off the camera.

Have the flash head angled towards a flat and white surface to entertain indirect illumination. Examples of flat and white surfaces you can utilize are a white wall, a white poster board, a white ceiling, etc.

Conduct a try-out of different combinations. By doing so, you will be able to discover the combination which best suits your object.

Product Photography Tips #4 - Studio Lights Come In Handy

Although it is not necessary to use fancy studio photography gadgets, getting hold of studio lights will do you good. Layouts or backgrounds set up by professionals have their sets of benefits.

The benefits of professional set-up settings are that the amount of light emitted are under control, adjustable height of lightstands to better angle lights, and the ability to arrange accessories for diffusion.

Note that you should acquire flat, even lighting to produce excellent images of objects. By using more than two lights, you can better position the lights so that it will blend the illumination evenly.

Hope this tip will be of great use to you! Try it out and tell me how it has helped you!
